Union officials can and do overcharge for the services they render, and the generous excess is spent at their whim. Among the expenditures reported[1] by the NEA are the following:

·        Resorts, casinos and hotels, $3,340,717.

o       Borgata Hotel, Casino and Spa, $141,043

o       Harrah’s, $16,160

o       Lansdowne Resort, $48,250

o       Wilshire Grand, $165,522

o       Sheraton Atlantic City, $357,729

·        Washington Wizards tickets, $9,130.

·        Ford’s theatre tickets, $10,000.

·        Limos in Hawaii, $15,312.

When it comes to salaries, benefits, and perks, union officials are better off than teachers.

  • The average teacher salary: $47,808[2].

  • The average NEA employee salary: $87,725[3]
  • Nearly half of NEA employees receive more than $100,000 a year[4].
  • The NEA’s payroll is a massive $59,514,611.[5]
  • Benefits and expense accounts take the total up to $68,504,851.[6]

When it comes down to the money, the NEA’s own reports indicate its officials and employees come first.
